Package Details

Day 1: Arrival in Kochi and Transfer to Thattekad

  • Arrive at Kochi International Airport and meet your driver/guide.
  • Drive to Thattekad, which is about 1.5 hours away from the airport.
  • Visit the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary Thattekad in the afternoon for birdwatching. 
  • The sanctuary is home to over 300 species of birds including the Indian pitta, Malabar grey hornbill, white-bellied treepie, Asian fairy blue-bird, Hill Myna, Malabar starling, Malabar Trogon, variety of Cormorants, greater racket-tailed drongo, Malabar grey-hornbill, green bee-eater, grey and red junglefowl, lesser whistling duck and the Sri Lankan frogmouth..
  • Drive to Munnar, which is about 3 hours away from Thattekad

Day 2: Munnar

  • Check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
  • After breakfast, Visit the Eravikulam National Park in the afternoon for birdwatching.
  • The park is home to the Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri wood pigeon, the Black-and-orange flycatcher, the Malabar trogon, Nilgiri wood pigeon, Ceylon Frog Mouth, House Martin, Bonelli’s Hawk Eagle, Great Indian Hornbill, Indian Black-Crested Baza, Nilgiri Laughing Thrush.
  • After the visit, drive to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is about 3 hours away from Munnar.

Day 3: Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary – Tiger trail

  • Visit the sanctuary in the evening for birdwatching on the Periyar Tiger Trail
  • The sanctuary is home to over 260 species of birds including the Malabar grey hornbill, Nilgiri wood pigeon, and the Blue-winged parakeet.
  • Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

  • After breakfast, drive to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, which is about 3.5 hours away from Periyar.
  • Check-in at your hotel and rest for a while.
  • Visit the bird sanctuary in the afternoon for birdwatching.
  • The sanctuary is home to several migratory birds including the egret, darter, heron, different species of Kingfishers, herons, owls, egrets, white ibis, Indian darter and many other native birds thrive here. The sanctuary attracts migrant birds like pin-tailed duck, Siberian stork, teals, spot-billed duck, steppe eagle, osprey, marsh harrier also. The place is ideal for nature photography.
  • Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure

  • After breakfast, check-out from your hotel and drive to Kochi International Airport for your departure flight.
